Premium Planner

Microsoft Planner Premium is the upgraded version of Planner designed for teams that need more structure, visibility and automation in their work. With advanced views, dependencies, reporting and integrations, Planner Premium provides a powerful middle ground between simple task boards and enterprise project management platforms. This program introduces the new features and gives you practical experience building, managing and tracking work in Planner Premium.
Note: Additional licence required.

What will I learn?

Participants will gain the skills and insights to:
• Understand how Planner Premium expands on the core Planner tool
• Create and manage structured plans using advanced views, templates and task controls
• Use dependencies, custom fields and buckets to organise work more effectively
• Track progress using timeline, board, list and calendar views
• Integrate Planner Premium with Teams, Outlook and Project for the web to improve visibility and collaboration

What to expect?

In this course, you will explore how Planner Premium helps teams manage complex work with greater structure and clarity. You will work hands-on with plans, tasks and advanced features such as dependencies, custom fields and automated workflows. You will also learn how to switch between views to track progress, generate reports and integrate plans into Microsoft Teams and Outlook. By the end of the session, you will be confident using Planner Premium to coordinate work, visualise timelines and manage team responsibilities.

Understanding Planner Premium

- What’s new, how it differs from Basic Planner and where it fits in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

Creating Plans Plus

- Creating plans across web, Teams and mobile. Using templates, copying plans and managing privacy and permissions.

Adding and Managing Members

- Adding team members, editing permissions, managing guest access and supporting external collaboration.

Advanced Buckets and Tasks

- Creating buckets, adding custom fields, setting task dependencies, using attachments, labels, checklists, milestones and recurring tasks.

Managing Plans Like a Pro

- Using timeline (Gantt) view, board, list and calendar views. Bulk editing, grouping, filters and time saving updates.

Automation and Reporting

- Using Power Automate for notifications, reminders and workflows. Exporting to Excel and generating reports to track progress.

Integration and Collaboration

- Using Planner Premium inside Microsoft Teams, linking plans to Outlook and Project for the web, and collaborating with Microsoft 365 Groups and Copilot (where licensed).
